A prospecting trip designed for those phototravellers who want to explore and understand the rich traditions and ways of life of the most emblematic tribes of the southwest of this exciting country. Each day of this trip will give you the opportunity to capture unique moments with your camera, from the elaborate hairstyles and ornaments of the Muila and Humbi women, to the daily practices of the Dimba herders and Hakaona artisans. A journey that promises to be a unique experience, full of cultural discoveries, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable encounters with the tribes of Angola.

Arrival in the capital of Angola.
Luanda is a fascinating city with a rich historical past and a beautiful bay, all seasoned with the typical flavor of its Portuguese colonial past.
After lunch in the Ilha neighborhood, we will take a domestic flight to Lubango, where we will settle in a hotel for the night.
Overnight at Hotel AD
The second day will take you to meet the Muila tribes, starting with the Kamuviu community, known as the Muila of the plains. Here, we will greet the Soba (local chief) and meet their wives, as many Angolan tribes are polygamous. We will continue to the small colonial town of Chibia, where we will have lunch. Then we will drive to the Mukuma area to meet the Muila of the mountain.
Night in Camp.
Today we will leave the Huila highlands and enter the deep and tribal south to meet the Humbi and admire their unique hairstyles. We interact with the tribe and their queen, surrounded by giant baobabs. Night in Camp. PC.
Our day will begin with a last visit to the Humbi community before departing for Cahama. We will have lunch in Cahama, where we will be able to see a monument in honor of the Cuban troops. We will continue our journey to a Dimba village, known for being cattle herders, and camp near their community.

Today we will arrive in Oncocua, an ideal place to meet tribal groups, as up to six of Angola’s most traditional tribes live here. At sunset, we will take an introductory walk through the market to meet the first tribal peoples. Night in Camp. PC.
Today is going to be an intense ethnographic day. We will start with a visit to the Tua, former hunter-gatherers turned blacksmiths and goat herders. Afterwards, we will head to a Hakaona village, known as the “black Himba“, renowned healers and artisans. We will have lunch at the base camp and in the afternoon we will visit a Himba village. Another intense day in which we will meet and photograph two tribes, the Cuis, a small minority of potters, and the farmers of Gambue, who migrated 80 years ago from the Huila plateau. Night in Camp. PC.
After the last visits to the tribal groups of the Oncocua region, we will return to Lubango, stopping in Ontitchau for a picnic lunch.
Overnight at Hotel AD
Today we will descend from the plateau through the famous Serra de Leba Pass, admiring the most emblematic panoramic view of Angola. We will have lunch in the village of Mangueiras, where we will meet the tribes of the Cubal and the Ngendelengo. Then we will head to the oasis of Mungongo, in the Namibe desert area. We will visit the local community, made up of the Umbundu people, and continue to the oasis of Arco, where some Umbundu families live. Night in Camp. PC.
After taking the last pictures of the proud tribal people of the Cubal, we will return to Lubango. On the way we will stop to photograph the Nguendelengo, a tribal group that lives by hunting, gathering and raising livestock. We will have lunch in Bibala, a small colonial town, and continue to Lubango to take an overnight flight to Luanda. Night in Hotel.
