Located just over 150 kilometers north of Australia, this Melanesian nation shares the island with Indonesia. A place that treasures an enormous cultural wealth with more than 800 tribes. In a natural environment, full of dense tropical forests, idyllic islands, its impressive Highlands and volcanic landscapes. A magical place with a unique ecosystem that is home to unusual wildlife such as the famous birds of paradise.
But Papua New Guinea is also a photographic paradise because of its dizzying array of ethnic groups. Together with PhotoTravel guides, you will be able to learn about the traditional culture of the local tribes in the Highlands at the Mt Hagen Festival.

We arrived first thing in the morning; after the entry formalities into the country, we go to our Hotel in Singapore.
The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the city.

Morning free to visit Singapore and in the late afternoon our international flight departs for Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

We land in Port Moresby, after the entry procedures in the country, we connect with the domestic flight to Tari, transfer by vehicle to South Koroba, Hetamali Village, where we will have the first contact with the Huli Wigmen.Eco Lodge, A.D
After breakfast, photo session with the Huli Wigmen next to Ambua Makara Waterfall and jungle; visit the Huli shamans and widows.
The Huli Wigmen are an indigenous Melanesian ethnic group residing in Hela Province, Papua New Guinea.
They primarily speak Huli and Tok Pisin. They are one of the largest cultural groups in Papua New Guinea, numbering over 250,000 people.
The Huli are deeply aware of their history and folklore, as evidenced by their knowledge of genealogy and family traditions. Particularly noteworthy is their impressive headdresses made from their own hair and birds of paradise.

After breakfast we will travel by bus through the Highlands, crossing the provinces of Hela and Jiwaka, until we reach our next destination: Mount Hagen.

Today is the big day. The Mt. Hagen Highlands Cultural Showcase awaits us. It’s the largest tribal gathering of the year, with up to 100 groups dancing and singing over two days. With our VIP passes, we’ll have privileged access to the tribes for photography in the morning and then enjoy the atmosphere with the tens of thousands of locals in the afternoon.

After breakfast, we head to Mindima Village in Simbu Province to meet members of the Chimbu Skeleton Tribe in Papua New Guinea.
The Chimbu Skeleton people, an ethnic and linguistic group of approximately 180,000 people, first came into contact with the Western world in 1933.
The Chimbu used to wear face paint to psychologically intimidate their enemies, but today it is merely a theatrical tradition.
In the afternoon, visit the Asaro, one of PNG’s emblematic tribes.

We’ll catch our early morning flight to Port Moresby and from there take a ferry to Lolota Island to enjoy a few days of diving.

Today we begin the final leg of this journey, in the Coral Sea, in Loloata.
At our luxurious Loloata Island Resort, where truly incredible diving awaits, we’ll enjoy the coral reefs of Papua New Guinea.

After breakfast, we return to Port Moresby by ferry. We transfer to the international airport and fly to Singapore. We arrive in Singapore and check in at our hotel.
Overnight in Singapore.
Early in the morning, we return to our hometown, the end of our PNG Photography Trip.
