We’re back in Ladakh again, and this is our 9th edition!! Ladakh, located in geographical and cultural Tibet, nestled in the far northeast of India between the Himalayas and the Karakoram, is the hidden Kingdom of Ladakh.
It is one of the last places in the world where it is still possible to experience the purest essence of Tibetan Buddhism.
Once again, we return to the legendary Zanskar Valley in the heart of the Kingdom of Ladakh, one of its most remote and hidden regions. We’ll have the opportunity to experience the Lamayuru Festival , visit the Brokpa people in Hanu , and enjoy a truly comprehensive photo tour!
We will continue to support responsible tourism by staying at Guesthouse Ladakhis, thus experiencing its culture more intensely – a people with a heart as big as its mountains!

We landed in Delhi and, after immigration formalities, continued our journey to Leh, a beautiful flight over the Indian Himalayas. Transfer to our hostel, check-in, and rest.
Today we will spend the day acclimatizing since we are at an altitude of 3,500 m. In the afternoon we will visit the city, surrounded by great peaks, among them the imposing Stok Kangri 6,137m , which I had the pleasure of climbing 16 years ago!!,,,Leh is small but very active, especially in season. In the past, it was an important commercial center where caravans coming from Tibet and Central Asia stopped before continuing towards Kashmir.

Breakfast. Today we will take the opportunity to acclimatize to Leh and see the monasteries around the Shey Valley: Thiksey, Hemis, where we will have our first contact with Buddhist culture.

Our photographic journey to Ladakh continues, guided by the Indus River. A particularly beautiful spot where we’ll stop is Sangam Point, where we can appreciate the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. We then continue our route to the Hanu/Dha region. Just a few kilometers from Pakistan live the Brokpa people, who are said to be descendants of Alexander the Great’s army or of the Dards, an Aryan tribe that migrated to western Ladakh and Pakistan centuries ago.
Undoubtedly, they are different physically and culturally; there are many legends about them, such as that of free love (among themselves), given that they do not interact with other communities.
The women wear a woolen dress, adorned with silver jewelry and covered with a goatskin, on their heads a hat decorated with flowers.

Today we will spend the whole day living with the Brokpa people, visiting the surrounding villages, learning about their lives and customs.
In the afternoon, we can enjoy their typical dances and music, a delight for lovers of the most remote ethnicities.

After the experience with the Brokpa, we began to delve into the heart of Ladakh in the famous Zanskar Valley.
We will visit Wanla Village and the Monasteries of Hanupatta, Fotoksar and the famous Singge La pass 4952m, we spend the night in Lingshed Camp, night in local homes.

At dawn we set off for Padum, a small town that is the administrative center of the Zanskar Valley.

These two days we will be visiting the entire Zanskar area, breathing in and experiencing the spirituality of the region.

Our days in the Zanskar Valley end, and we head towards Kargil along one of the most spectacular roads in Ladakh where we will have the opportunity to see the Kun and the Nun, with peaks exceeding 7000m.

Early in the morning we head towards the Lamayuru Monastery; this afternoon the festival begins and we will be able to see the first masked dances.

Today is one of the great days, we are going to witness the Lamayuru Festival, a unique spectacle of dances and masks, where we can join the locals on their big day.
At sunset we returned to Leh.

Early in the morning we take our domestic flight to Delhi, rest in the capital and in the afternoon we take the international flight home.
