In a short time, South Sudan has become a PhotoTravel classic in its own right. Its rich and fascinating culture, together with its photographic possibilities and the good reception of its people, has definitely captivated us.
During this time we have created an infrastructure in the country that allows us to deploy the complex logistics that are required to make a trip of these characteristics through the area. Our PhotoTravel Headquarters in South Sudan has worked with the most prestigious photographers in the world, and that makes us one of the few agencies that offer this exciting trip.
In this edition PhotoTravel offers you an unrepeatable expedition to the heart of South Sudan, a country that is home to a unique ethnographic richness. A tour in which we will visit some of the most impressive ethnic groups in the world.
We will fly from Juba to Kapoeta, territory of the Toposa and Jie, we will live with the Larim in the mountains of Boya. And this year, we are once again including a visit to the Lopits. We end the tour in a unique place that is difficult to forget for photography lovers, the Mundari Cattle Camp, on the banks of the Nile.
If you like adventure, this is the trip you were looking for. An incomparable cultural journey with colossal photographic possibilities.
…”For more than a decade I had a dream: to travel to South Sudan. Given the complicated logistics and high prices, it was impossible to do it on your own. An already outstanding PhotoTraveller traveler told me about Gonzalo and his agency PhotoTravel. I didn’t hesitate for a second. I wrote to him to sign up. I came back yesterday and I haven’t regretted for a second having traveled with him and the great group. Perfect organization, a detailed and very studied route to be able to enjoy it 100%, lots of laughter, great moments shared, good photos and back an unforgettable experience. What a crack is the chacha (tourleader Gonzalo) !! And what wonderful people South Sudan.” …

After breakfast, we will take a spectacular flight in a small plane to the small town of Kapoeta. There the 4×4 cars will be waiting for us to take us to one of the most remote and little-known areas of South Sudan, Lopet, where we will have the opportunity to live together with the Jie. This incursion was one of the great bets of PhotoTravel, a resounding success in the human and photographic that in this edition we will repeat again, PhotoTravel quality. The Jie live with their livestock in a very arid region, which means that they constantly move in search of fresh pastures. The roots with which they maintain their traditions stand out, which makes them practice animist religions and continue to scarify face and body scarifications.
Camping on full board.
Today we will spend the whole day visiting and photographing the different Jie villages in the area. With luck, we will be able to witness some of their magnificent singing, dancing and dancing.

Overnight at Juba Hotel, bed and breakfast
“Perfect trip to South Sudan, from a very professional organization of Gonzalo and his local guide Donald. I had an exceptional journey among the most remote tribes on the planet. I highly recommend traveling with the PhotoTravel agency to visit these countries because we avoid very touristy trips and visit the country in more depth. Go ahead, with your eyes closed!”

Today begins one of the most impressive parts of our South Sudan Photo Trip; the visit to the Mundari village. We will take a track to the north, without going too far from the banks of the Nile, until we enter Mundari territory, in the region of Terekeka. We will set up our camp next to the Mundari settlements, and from there we will approach the Cattle Camp to contemplate and photograph the life of this spectacular ethnic group. At dusk, when the last rays of sunlight fall on the waters of the Nile, is when the lights of the bonfires appear in the Cattle Camps. Bonfires and cattle dust, a perfect combination for our spectacular photos this first day with the Mundari.
Camping on full board.
Today we will witness one of the most spectacular and exciting experiences that can be lived on the African continent. Mundari hospitality will allow us to get to know in depth the life of this unique ethnic group. We will visit different Cattle Camps, where we will be surprised by their mystical relationship with the cattle, the Ankole-Watusi.
Our camera will witness the fascinating daily life and aesthetics of Mundari, including how they dye their hair with the urine of their cows or how the youngest milk them in the mornings. With luck, we will be able to witness the crossings of the cattle to other islands, looking for green pastures, where they again dismantle and assemble their Cattle Camps.
A day not to forget, where the semi-nomadic life of the Mundari is evident in every scene we contemplate and photograph.
Camping on full board.
We will take advantage of the special moment of the last sunrise together with the Mundari, and after picking up camp, we will return to Juba. It’s time to rest at the hotel and take a refreshing shower. In the afternoon we will transfer to the airport to return to Spain.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport flight destination to the city of origin.

First thing in the morning we will arrive in our hometown, the end of our South Sudan 2025 Photo Tour.
