From the mighty expanses of the Karakoram in the north to the vast alluvial delta of the Indus River in the south, Pakistan remains a land of adventure and nature. A country of hospitable and respectful people, with exuberant natural beauty and an incredible history behind it. A place where stunning mountain landscapes, its magnificent architecture and exquisite culinary heritage are mixed. And once again, PhotoTravel gives you the opportunity to take a Photo Tour to Pakistan, where you can get to know its rich culture and admire its unique landscapes.
A trip in which you will visit one of the most hidden and remote areas of North Pakistan.
Our adventure will take you to the bazaars of Islamabad, the green meadows of the Fairy Meadows, from where you will have amazing and incredible views of Nanga Parbat, the Hunza Valley, along with the most impressive mountains and glaciers in the world, and as a culmination of this spectacular Photo Trip we visit the Kalash again, at the Summer Festival. There we will have the opportunity to photograph some of the most characteristic people of the region, those who legend says are the descendants of some ancient lost legions of Alexander the Great.
“If we have to talk about remote places where adventure is still possible, northern Pakistan is one of them. A territory marked by a geography of enormous mountains between the Himalayas, the Karakoram and the Hindukush. A land of forgotten valleys where cultures of almost unknown origin still survive, such as that of the Kalash of Caucasian origin. A must-see place for the civilizations that connected Asia and Europe, where its people welcome you with open arms and overflowing kindness. In addition to a hospitality that breaks all schemes.
It is impossible not to feel awe at the grandeur of the mountains, lakes and glaciers. Or of the valleys that still preserve part of the route of the mythical Silk Road. And of course, be fascinated by the colour and bustle of traditional street markets such as the one in Rawalpindi.
Without a doubt, this trip to Pakistan is one of the most intense, varied and enriching you can imagine.”

Sunrise next to Nanga Parbat and walking through the meadows looking for the best angles of this spectacular view, is an experience impossible to forget. It is time to descend to continue our adventure and set course with the 4×4 towards the Hunza Valley. En route we will make a stop at Nanga Parbat view point, from where you can see the magical union of the three mountain ranges: The Karakorum, Himalayas, and Hindu kush. A photon that we could not miss. We arrive in Gilgit and, after visiting it, we continue along the ancient silk road, next to the Hunza River, towards Karimabad. A pleasant path where we will make a few stops to admire the breathtaking landscape and take a few photos: in Jaglot, at the Silk Road viewpoint, at the Rakaposki 7788m viewpoint, for lunch… We will end the day in Karimabad, visiting the Eagle’s Nest, a point from which it is possible to see the mountain range at its best, with its seven peaks of more than 7000 meters in the distance, surrounding the Hunza Valley, and turning into pink and orange colors at sunset. The photo will surely not disappoint you.

After the visit, we continue to Passu, a popular destination due to its wide landscapes and views of Passu Sar Mountain. However, until the arrival we will make a few stops along the way. One of them will be in Lake Attabad, formed in 2010 due to a landslide resulting from an earthquake that blocked the course of the Hunza River. A lake of blue water in front of the village Atta Abad and surrounded by mountains that make it appear as a magical place. When we arrive in Passu we visit the impressive Passu Glacier, and in the afternoon, if we are lucky, we will be able to see one of the most impressive sights that one can admire in the heart of the Karakorum: the sunset of the “Cathedrals of Passu”.
Get ready because you’re going to be left with your mouth open!

The next few days will be dedicated to exploring the Kalash Valley, without a doubt, the most beautiful and photogenic area of our Photo Trip to Pakistan. We will travel through the three Valleys that make up the area, in order to visit one of the most remote and hidden ethnic groups in the world, the Kalasha people, descendants of an ancient Central European people or, according to some sources, of the lost armies of Ancient Greece. In any case, his physical features are striking, with light eyes, white complexion and clothing similar to that of the soldiers of Alexander the Great’s Greece. We will move to Rumbur, a picturesque valley with lush vegetation and surrounded by mountains that give it a rare feeling of calm and solitude. We will sleep in the traditional house of a Kalasha family, with beautiful views of the Valley.
